Samsung Upstage phone for sale

Hey everyone,

I bought a Samsung Upstage phone last month, and a few days ago I decided to leave Sprint for clearer waters. I have a way cool, barely used phone back in its box with no owner, and I'm looking to get rid of it.

I currently have it up for auction on eBay, and unfortunately the only way to win it is to make the winning bid there. Here's the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...0981&rd=1&rd=1

Reserve: $80 (already met)
End Date/Time: May-24-07 19:45:54 PDT
Payments: PayPal, Wire Transfer (buyer pays fees)

More info on the Upstage

I bought the phone for $150 using a Sprint discount that comes with reupping my service contract. Unless you have this option available to you, this phone will cost you $300. As of this post, my eBay auction is at $100, less than the Sprint special/incentive prices, and much less than what you'll pay for a new one if you're mid-contract with them. Even if the phone goes for $200-250, it's still a steal for someone who's locked into a contract and wants this phone! Frankly, I'm happy to sell it for $100 - whatev.

Oh, I'll cover shipping in the U.S. Outside of the U.S., I'll pay the first $10, and the buyer pays the difference.

Please bid! I'd much rather keep the phone in the IWDN family than send it to some stranger on eBay

Crap! You made a profit on a phone you bought brand new and used (if only for a month)? There's a business to be had there!

Not entirely Jamie. I did have to pay Sprint a $200 disconnection fee in order to switch services. Once you're in a contract, you're no longer eligible for phone discounts. But if you find a line of phones where the savings are substantially more than the disconnect fee, yes, you could run a racket like that.

Of course, the phone companies would stop issuing you credit very quickly

next time a good way to avoid the disconnect fee if you are thinking about stopping service with a carrier change to electronic billing (no paper bill in the mail) month then the next month look on their coverage map and find somewhere they don't have service and get the zip code then call them up and tell them you moved there. they will almost always cancel without charging the etf. hope this helps someone.

Huh. Sneaky, but I can see how it might work, though they're connected to your credit line, so it would be easy for them to check on this, in theory. I suppose it's a possibility, but it's fraud, and there's always a risk when you try things like that.

Erm, if someone tries it, please tell us how it goes!

I actually had to do this with one carrier because of our location. It was quite comical to one extent. The phone kept dropping the call as I was telling them I could not get a signal. They would call me back (probably about 7 times).

I think the representative just finally got frustrated and gave me a full refund.
