I guess this is video, in a sense so here we go;

Link here (http://www.macromedia.com/software/captivate)

Macromedia Captivate automatically records all on-screen actions and instantly creates professional-quality Flash simulations complete with text captions, mouse movements, and scored interactions. Without programming, easily edit and customize projects, or add eLearning interactions. Captivate files are small in size and high resolution— ideal for rapid online delivery or LMS deployment.

Price: £269 GBP / $499 USD

Opinions? I myself plan on purchasing this, but what I would like to know is, are there any better alternatives?

Interesting. I had the opportunity to meet the product manager for RoboDemo, a very energetic gal named Silka Fleischer. She's very enthusiastic about development efforts with RoboDemo, and we talked briefly about the program's compression engine, compressing down the timeline, not just on a frame-by-frame basis as many programs used to do. I have her number, so if any of you have a question or comment about the product that might be of interest to her, let me know and I'll give her a call. :)

Just don't tell Amy! :slap:

I gotten about 10 calls from 2 reps at Macromedia trying to convince me to buy it.

Frankly I don't love it, but it is the best option there is out there.

Heh, this one is close to my heart.

I first purchased RoboDemo when it was v3.0. Stable, no frills, but stable.

I was subsequently invited by eHelp to participate in the BETA test group for v4.0. Nice new features, but way too many bugs. And in our private BETA forum, it was evident that they needed to go back to the drawing board. Yet, I saw them suddenly releasing v4.0, bugs and all.

WHAT????

Boggles the mind. Needless to say, I never updated the 3 licenses we owned. I was content to stay with 3.0. Then they went to v5.0. Still, after close inspection, I was not prepared to migrate 1300+ movies to the latest RD version. Just not stable enough for a production environment, IMHO.

And now, Captivate. I have a copy of it. Yes, fewer bugs. But from my standpoint, knowing the history of the product, I am still not convinced.

Strange as it may sound, we still opt to use the "antiquated" v3.0 in our day to day production.

That is similar to the way I feel about Illustrator. I just love version 8. I only need less than 5 tools, so why bother getting CS? :lol:
