sea otter,

I'm with ya. Read the forum rules and you'll see we're not going to be so relaxed about forum whores. Ok, to some extent, sure. You can only take yourself too seriously. But not for wholesale abuse.

Also, check the main lounge to see the thread on my wacky ranking system. It's worth a read ;)

Ack! I didn't RTFM.

And worse, I posted a message in another thread with a couple of 1337 H4x0R words. Really not my day :o (Bows head in shame).

RE rankings, I guess I missed that thread yesterday when I tried to read everything on the site to catch up. I hadn't yet reset my cache and was still having trouble viewing/using parts of the site. Apologies again.

And if you need foreign language mods, I do speak Hebrew pretty fluently (lived there for seven years), and yes, as someone said elsewhere, your logo does look like Hebrew (the blue and white color scheme --Israel's national colors-- only adds to it). The logo looks kinda like it says "tach-SHAV", which doesn't mean anything in Hebrew but could be an acronym in that language as well. The "ch" isn't pronounced like the "ch" in Charles, but more gutturally, like the "ACHEM" sound the Critic makes (if you've ever see the cartoon).

Sorry about the rambling.

Interesting. I spent five years in Hebrew school and seven years total learning the language leading up to my Bar Mitzvah, at which point I promptly forgot everything I learned. The only words I remember are my pronouns and yirakot (vegetables) :) (judging by the last name in your application, I guessed we were of similar cultural/religious affiliation)

I think foreign language mods will need to wait until things are established and everything running smoothly. I have no problem getting there, but there are a lot of steps that need to take place

Heh. Yeah, we're both MOT (members of the tribe).

I lived there seven years as a kid (1st-7th grades), so the language, to a degree, is ingrained in me. I've studied French and German for decades, but am not nearly as competent in those languages because I learned them when I was older. I was kidding about being a Hebrew mod. Can you imagine the dealing with the charset?

Also, being in the haze that I was, I misstyped what the letters read. It actually looks like "chat-shav", but the rest of the comments stand.

I think my brain is better now. I finally ate! Yirakot, huh? Did you eat yours today??? Sorry, I know, you already have a mother to ask you that. So do I :)

There we go. Now we can get as carried away as we'd like! (religion/language/culture are no longer OT, they are the topic in this split :) )

Actually, I only have one foot in the door with the tribe. My mother is Catholic, my father is Jewish. By reform law, I'm allowed to be Jewish (and I am), and the Catholics claim me as well. I've put in my time with both. It gives you a nice appreciation for different rituals and ways in which sanctity is established and celebrated.

Paul, I see you've been busy hackin' up threads :)

And meanwhile, after my mini-rant elsewhere about forum lounge whores, where have I done most of my posting??? :?

Okay, starting tomorrow, on Launch Day, after my multiple hangovers have been tended to, I shall start making meaningful posts in other threads. Let's get things moving!
