Yea, Google really are stepping up the search industry now. MSN will have a lot to compete with. Also, have you noticed when you go to google.com it forwards you to your national domain, eg. google.co.uk

Very very nice and useful.

I think Google is the future of the search industry. These guys had more innovative ideas in the past years then Yahoo and MSN combined together.

Is that a good thing? The returned results are different. Why can't they just let you go to the site to which you want to go?

Well they have a link to Google.com, it remembers if you last went on .com or you country domain and redirects you there.

Ahh, I see. There's no Google.us - at least not of which I'm aware, so we don't see that over here.

They're only different if you click search 'UK Pages Only'. You can still search globally ;)

I was under the impression that doing a global search from the UK site returned different ranks than using the .com version. All of the same sites are indexed, but Google determines relevancy differently on the .co.uk site. Am I wrong?

When you're on the UK site you get something like attached, therefore you yourself are determining the relevancy of worldwide or UK.

I always had the same results searching the '.com search' and the '.co.uk web search', so unless they changed it (Which I doubt because it would make it pointless to forward to your national), it should work the same and return the same results ...

Do a search on the .com for "Motives" and tell me the top 2 results.

For UK Web it's

.MOTIVES FESTIVAL.

That is certainly an improvement but it doesn't seem to take the phrases from it's results, try entering warley, warley scout (my site) does not appear or search for PLH media.

Ohhhhh ;) I got ya!! But the most searched and indexed would be there, they can't possibly put all the sites there, also you can still type what you want to search, it's just annoying that it changes the "typed" letters to the top suggestion whilst you're typing, may confuse some and make them stop typing ...

Jamie

Yeah. I am sure though they would be open for comments seen as though it is Beta. (Or have Google gone past the small, cosy company stage that really care about their 'customers' comments?)

I don't think they're past it, and I hope they never will be. Shoot off an email and see what they say, they've always replied to mine although sometimes it took upto 2 weeks, but that's quite good considering the volume they must get per day ...
