View Full Version : news script / CMS
Odd Fact

I am looking for suggestions on news scripts or simple CMS scripts. I am using CuteNews and the AJ-Fork now. I want to use it for a rant page and events page. However the scripts do not output very pretty code. Any better suggestions. The script also needs to be able to integrate cleanly.

The BeSpoke Blog script developed by IWDN members might be suitable for your needs. We're using it on equentitysucks.com, and Jamie and I both have it on our personal sites.

Paul can bespoke be pulled in like a news script. For example CuteNews you add a few tags to your template to pull the content in?
Tjobbe I downloaded and will play with SNEWS. Do you have it running on any sites? How easy is it to integrate?

I have it working on my blog site: farstyle.com.
It uses php functions and you can customise it fairly easily enought to fit in with most designs.
The forums at the solucija web site is also extremely helpfull.
Good luck!

It is a very basic script, and maybe the community will put effort into enhancing it (I added a set of code/tag buttons in the admin area to make it work similarly to BBCode in forums).

Paul I will try bespoke next. SNEWS looks good. But right now it yo have to hardcode modifications to pull the content into a template.

Version 1.4 with search engine safe URLS and many other features is coming out any minute now, I suggest you wait for it as it will be much much better than 1.3!

not 100% sure what you mean there..
You can create a new style sheet, attach it to this page only, and make custom styles with CSS..
I can see you are using this within your existing site design at the moment, but I'm not sure what you want to achieve?

ah I see, not that difficult to be honest! I can help you with that, it does depend on a few things though!
Will all the content on that page be from one single category? i.e - your daily / weekly rants on any given subject?
If that is the case, you just need one single category from within snews which you add your posts to, then have that particular category display all of the posts in order on that page.
Does this sound like what you need doing? If so, I can tell you waht you need to do to achieve that..
