Hi All,

On my conquest to glean all that is to be gleaned about mobile video - one issue came up today - PAL or NTSC? Does it really matter?

I'm not completely sure about this, but I don't think it matters, as long as the bits per second is kept low enough for the device to handle, and it's at a low enough resolution to display on the devices you're aiming at. I think PAL and NTSC are more TV/Video standards, and I wouldn't have thought there would be any issues with interlacing on a mobile device as they'll tend to be using TFT screens with high persistence/low refresh rate anyway.

I could be wrong though so that's only my guess.

Actually, there *are* issues, including different frame rates. But any transcoder you use will have the right input setting and take care of the work for you. If you're gonna be serious about this stuff, I recommend Final Cut Pro.

There's an old joke about NTSC that video producers use-- Never The Same Color (twice).
