FALLUJAH, Iraq — The U.S. military is investigating the killing of a wounded and apparently unarmed Iraqi prisoner inside a mosque during combat operations here, the Defense Department told NBC News on Monday.
NBC’s Kevin Sites, who witnessed the incident Saturday while assigned to represent a pool of news organizations, reported Monday that the man was shot by a Marine who appeared to be unaware that the Iraqi was a wounded prisoner and did not pose a threat.
Bryan Whitman, a spokesman for the Defense Department, told NBC News that the military was investigating the incident observed by Sites. “We’re confident it will be a thorough investigation,” he said.

Personally i think no disciplinary action should be taken against the marine involved. I mean, if i was investigating a mosque where enemy insurgents had been spotted, and thee was a fireright the day previous, and an insurgent started to get up, i would think one thing, hes got a gun, shoot him.
Even if this wasnt the case, its warm just think of those people tortured and killed by them while captive, its as they so, do to one as you would have them do to you, which implies also, treat them as they treat you, and if it was the other way around, his countrymen wouldnt have courtmarshalled him, or disciplined him in anyway, he would get congratulated for th murder of a u.s troop, its just plain wrong.
They should let him back in the action, hes a soldier, trained to fightm and hes been caught up in politics, the u.s trying to make itself look better.
To me t seems there trying to find a way to look noble and honourable after wrongfully declaring war on a country, though i think they were right to take saddam hussein out of power, but it was stupid not to kill him when they had the chance, if i was with those marines that found and captured him, i bloody well would of.
