I hate "Sales" people on IM

It's bad enough there are telemarketers always trying to solicit over the phone but over IM is just plain annoying. I just had a 2 second conversation with an attempt to "buy bandwidth as needed" pssh...right. Another WHT lurker soliciting the boards.

I'm not mean to people who try to chat with me out of the blue but I don't appreciate sales pitches! :x

I keep myself invisible at all times, even to friends. I'm rarely on anyway, but if everyone could see me, I'd get absolutely nothing accomplished. The upside is no IM spam!

I agree....I'm forever "BUSY and AWAY" on IM and most friends/family contact me through IM istead of calling me due to them being on the east coast so it's easier. I don't mind the out of the blue question for help but don't try to sell me anything!!!

I do hate them, but they are just trying to get paid, and i suppose using the block button is easier than deleting an email from them every day, especially when its coming from 100 odd places.

unfortunately, this is simply "one of those things" that the ever evolving technology has brought us. It dosn't matter what you do today, you are going to get spam in one form or another. This is a global, multi - trillian dollar(what's bigger then a trillian?) business and will not go away in our lifeftime.
