The Polar Express looked good when I first saw the commercials. After seeing Tom Hanks on Oprah talking about the film and how he plays 5 characters, I found out that everything is done with mocap (Motion Capturing)! Real-time acting!! It's great stuff and I think this film will surpass many other CG films when these characters are brought to life by live actors. I will be seeing this film hopefully this weekend at the IMAX on the big screen 8) I enjoyed seeing motion capturing and learning about it at the Siggraph convention in San Diego last year and it is amazing what you can do with todays technology!

Cool! Someone was asking me if I was going to siggraph this year. I was in Portland for an instructional media conference instead. I think siggraph would have been a blast :)

I'm looking forward to it. The last CG movie I really loved was Final Fantasy...

I'm definitely not missing NEXT YEARS Siggraph :x It's in L.A. Again!!! I really wanted to see the Animation Festival :( But that's ok, because here in San Francisco, Academy of Art University gets ahold of it every year and shows it at the auditorium :D But I love meeting all the people at the convention. PLUS the Parties are fun! Free food, drinks, stuff! Last year I won an ATI graphics card (ebay....) and an Apple Ipod (ebay..again) and some software (ebay...). The people from France and the UK that come every year are great to talk to, everyone's nice and very knowledgable!! Pixar also gives away tons of limited edition items and cool posters 8) We can always have our first mini IWDN meetup in LA?

Sounds good, can't beat the IMAX either, it is brilliant.
